Dr. Bekele
Dr. Bekele is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Southern Oral Surgery, dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals of all ages. Drawn to a specialty that uniquely combines medicine and dentistry, he is passionate about improving lives through surgical treatment whether managing urgent conditions, relieving pain, restoring function, or enhancing quality of life through reconstructive procedures. This commitment continues to shape his approach to every patient he serves.
Dr. Bekele earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Georgia State University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, graduating in the top 10% of his class. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at UCSF Highland Hospital and Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California, where he received comprehensive training in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, bone grafting, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, and oral pathology. As a published researcher in craniofacial biology, Dr. Bekele has been recognized for academic excellence throughout his training and remains committed to evidence-based, high-quality patient care.
At Southern Oral Surgery, Dr. Bekele provides the full spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgical services, with particular interests in wisdom tooth removal, dental implant placement and reconstruction, bone grafting, maxillofacial trauma, and corrective jaw surgery. Utilizing advanced technology and contemporary surgical techniques, he strives to deliver safe, precise, and comfortable care while ensuring patients feel informed and confident throughout every stage of treatment.
Dr. Bekele maintains certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS). He is an active member of several professional organizations, including The American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Outside of practice, Dr. Bekele and his wife live in the Atlanta area with their son. He enjoys traveling, running, and spending time outdoors exploring parks and walking trails, as well as discovering new restaurants with family and friends.
